Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at a conference about an experiment our team has been working on — exploring how open-source LLMs can be made available in an on-premises environment.

Thank you to the Data Science in Finance Conference (DSFC) committee for organising such a well-structured event. It was a great experience both as a speaker and as an attendee.

I also learned a lot from the keynote talks and other sessions throughout the day. It’s always inspiring to hear different perspectives and see how others are approaching similar challenges.

Thanks as well to @rabobank for this initiative and André Ferreira for working together on this proof of concept.

Today we wrapped up the 2025 mentorship program we organised for the Women* in Tech community at @rabobank with a meaningful closing ceremony.

There’s something powerful about being in a room with people who are willing to be open, vulnerable, and generous in sharing both their personal and professional journeys. That’s where real growth happens.

I’m truly grateful to have organised this program alongside Iryna, whose encouragement kept the momentum going every step of the way.

This is only the beginning. We’re excited for the next initiatives we’re planning for the community this year.

2025… a year I want to remember.

I’m a planner by nature, but life writes in its own ink. 2025 came with challenges, detours, and more tears than I expected.

There were days when I doubted myself, felt alone, or wondered if I could keep going. But there were even more days where I chose courage, showed up anyway, and kept moving forward.

I moved into my own home. I explored new places on solo trips. I pushed harder for my promotion. I showed up at tech conferences. I earned my permanent residency in the Netherlands. And I celebrated so many quiet, meaningful wins along the way.

I let my creativity flow. I made space for friendships. I focused on what I could control and what truly matters to me.

I’m stepping into the next chapter with clarity, focus, ease, and grace.

Today, the @rabobank Women* in Tech Community held the Mentorship Program Kick-off Event — bringing together around 40–50 mentors and mentees!

We’re truly grateful to everyone who joined us, both online and in person.

To make the experience engaging, we organized the session in a speed-dating format, giving mentors and mentees the chance to meet multiple people for short conversations and see if they “click.” The goal was to help participants find the right match for their mentorship journey in the coming months.

As one of the community leads and the event organizer, I found the experience both fun and challenging. We decided to host it in a hybrid format to include colleagues who couldn’t attend in person and those living outside the Netherlands. Despite a few last-minute changes (as always happens with live events!), everything came together beautifully and we learned so much from the process.

I appreciate all the efforts of my fellow community leads — Iryna and Llea, who helped make this event happen!

We’re thrilled that most participants enjoyed the event and walked away with meaningful connections. I’m also excited about the upcoming workshops and can’t wait to see how these mentorship program grow!

Utrecht is a charming city and it’s over 900 years old! I just love the old buildings in this city and the canals surrounding it. I always use the Dom tower as my landmark whenever I’m walking around so I don’t get lost when I’m navigating some hidden streets in the city.

It’s almost my second home next to Hilversum. I once mistakenly said that I live in Utrecht when I was introducing myself because I was there several times a week. Hahaha 🤣

One year ago when I turned 29, I was already so anxious about turning 30. I thought I haven’t done enough yet, I wasn’t successful yet, I don’t know enough yet.

Instead of rejoicing for the new milestone of my life, I was filled with doubts and worries.

I was scared. I put an internal pressure on myself to achieve something. I forgot to look at all the things that I’ve already accomplished.

So I spent some time thinking about the people who were already on their 30’s and I could see that they’re enjoying their lives. Everyone has their own struggles but they continue living, figuring things out, and trying new things. Everyone has different walks in life and we have the choice to live life the way we wanted it to be.

Then I started living in the moment again. I always enjoyed planning about my goals and taking action. I always remind myself to enjoy the process of whatever I’m working on. I also know when to take a break when I feel overwhelmed with a lot of things that are happening at the same time. I made myself aware that I may hit a roadblock at some point, but it doesn’t mean I have to stop.

I kept going. I kept showing up.

Going back to the present moment, I turned 30 today!!! 🥳

A lot of things happened in one year and I’m feeling ecstatic about it!

- I visited my family and friends in the Philippines; and I travelled with my parents
- I got my Master’s degree
- I bought an apartment in the Netherlands
- I passed my driving theory exam (currently working on getting a driving license in NL)
- I got my inburgeringsdiploma for Dutch civic integration
- I got promoted to a lead engineer role
- I’m surrounded by the people who inspire me and that I care about
- I travelled to different countries
- I organized painting workshops and I’ve been painting more
- I was pet sitting cats and dogs and I truly enjoyed it

I’m still working on a lot of other things behind the scenes. I’m happy and grateful because I enjoy the things that I’m doing and I can do what I want.

I’m excited and I’m looking forward on what’s to come. ✨

This was the August 2020 version of myself when I just arrived in the Netherlands. I was 24. I was kind and eager, but I wasn’t sure about what I truly want. I was smart but naive. I was feeling a bit inferior.

My first two years here were tough and I even thought of leaving.

So I did a lot of work on myself and learned to be comfortable to meet new people. When I got to know myself better and I met people from different parts of the world, that changed my perspective on many things. They inspired me to do better and be happier. I learned to see the bigger picture of things and not only focus on the areas that I already know.

And today’s my 5th year here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

Do you know what’s one of the best things that I learned here in 5 years? To not give a damn about what other people say and say what I think. 💭
I used to overthink about it because I didn’t want to hurt other people’s feelings. But now, I don’t care much anymore. I’m happy when I said something and not hold myself back. Now I get what I want because I fight for it.

And now I also have 4 properties. Hahahaha 😅

I’m grateful for the people who helped me get started living in a new country. They will always be in my heart and mind, and I appreciate them. 🥰

He’s almost 15 years old and he’s a very sweet and happy dog. I was dog-sitting him for four days and I find it funny that he kept following me around. He would go wherever I go.

He loves to play. When he sees me dancing around, he gets so excited because he thinks I want to play too. He would look at my hand gestures expecting me to throw his toy or give him a command. Hahaha 🐶

I find painting portraits challenging yet enjoyable. This is the time when you really learn a lot about mixing colors to get different skin tones.

From afar, it looks like a regular portrait. But if you look closely at the painting, you will see reds, blues, yellows, purples, oranges, greens, and so on. Even the shadow itself is made of different colors. It’s just fun to mix them all together.

It’s my first oil painting of a portrait. I think I will try to do more and learn from the process. 😊

I was thinking of a housewarming gift for @irenethehuman and jake, then I remembered that I took a photo of them watching the fireworks at the rooftop of a parking lot in Utrecht city center during New Year’s eve.

It was also overlooking the Dom Tower which made the photo look more romantic. It was a very cold evening, yet the bright fireworks illuminated the city.

Just like the new year, I hope Irene and Jake’s new home will be filled with abundance and love.💞

When I first met Felix, I thought “I like him! I’m so excited to dogsit him. We will go on a long walk to the forest.”

I recently completed my Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Computer Engineering degree. It was a challenging journey, and I had to pause when I moved to the Netherlands due to a change in priorities. Although I had set yearly goals to finish my Master's, I struggled to find the motivation to continue.

It was frustrating because I only had my thesis left, but I couldn't bring myself to work on it. I was doubting my ideas, which made it even harder.

In 2023, I finally decided to push through. I gave myself a year to develop the system and prototype for my research. There were days when I felt exhausted and wanted to give up. But despite numerous setbacks, I persevered.

This year, I finished my research paper and the system I was working on. In June, I traveled to the Philippines to defend my thesis. Then in September, I presented my paper at the International Conference on Automation, Mechatronics, and Robotics (ICAMEROB) and was honored with the 3rd Best Presenter and 2nd Best (Research) Paper awards.

During our graduation ceremony, my mind was already racing with ideas for my next goals. However, I reminded myself to take a moment to celebrate my achievements. As I looked around at my fellow graduates, I saw the happiness on their faces and realized that we had all worked hard for our degrees. I shouldn't downplay the effort I had put in. So, I made a conscious decision to savor the moment and be grateful for what I had accomplished.

I'm truly thankful for all the people who supported me in earning my Master's degree – my parents, who always believed in me; my siblings and friends, who helped me test my prototype and with administrative work; the individuals who encouraged me to keep going; my advisor (Doc A), who pushed me to continue my thesis; and everyone else who inspired me to strive for excellence each day.

Thank you for being a part of my journey. ❤️

Ghent is an enticing city.

During my short visit, I learned about its history, that manufacturing cloths/textiles made the city rich, and that they used to charge 25% of taxes for grains trading.

Charles V, King of Spain from 1516-1556, was also born in Ghent, Belgium. But the locals didn't seem to like him because of his wrongdoings.

I truly loved the architecture of the old buildings, the castle, the cathedrals, the towers, and the Ghent Belfry which is a UNESCO-recognized world heritage. 🏰

I also tried their traditional beef stew and pork stew that were cooked in beer. They did this to preserve the meat since there were no fridges back then. Beer was also cleaner than water and was more commonly consumed because they didn't know at that time that boiling water kills the bacteria in it. They're also proud to say that French fries originated from Belgium.

In November 1949, the students from University of Ghent protested and occupied the Gravensteen (The Castle of the Counts) because the beer tax was increased. I heard that every year, in November, university students drink their beers right in front of the castle to celebrate. The same castle was also used as a torture place during the middle ages.

They also have a bar with 500 different kinds of beers and it's a must-visit place for people who like to drink beer.

Belgians do love their beer 🍻 , don't they?

I was in London last summer for a short holiday. It's a city with a rich history that will make someone very curious about what happened in the past, what's happening in the present, and what might happen in the future. It's an eye-opener to learn more about what's going on in politics and religious activities in the world.

It has many experiences to offer. I was amazed when I watched The Phantom of the Opera musical because the actors, the actresses, and the props were great and the show was well-executed! There are so many restaurants too so I enjoyed the foods so much.

London is a big city with a little bit of chaos in it which makes it exciting. I like that the people are different yet unique at the same time. They dress up to express themselves. It's common to see people reading books in the underground too.

I had an enjoyable tour and I did a lot of walking too. I also celebrated my birthday in London with my friends.

And of course, I went to all the places mentioned in Taylor Swift's song London Boy.
